Since wind energy draws power from a natural source, wind, its energy production can be affected by environmental, seasonal, and daily cycles. It cannot always consistently produce energy at all hours of the day, meaning it is “intermittent”.

While it’s true that the wind doesn’t always blow, energy storage helps save wind energy for certain occasions. For example, storage helps provide electricity from wind energy when demand is higher, meaning that wind projects can take advantage of the wind as long as its blowing and put it to use regardless of the current demand.
